One way of creating rapport is paying attention to the personal appearance. The main reason is most people usually create an impression depending on how the person looks, even before speaking to the person (Kim & Baker, 2019). Individuals should, therefore, maintain appearance according to how they want to be addressed since the first impression that the person will have is likely to last for a long time. The person can also create a rapport through a perceptive question (Qiu et al., 2020). Asking the question with sincerity would work similarly to a compliment and trigger a response from the other person. This question will also make the customer interested in the conversation and cared about. There are different ways of evoking empathy. One way is imagining being in another person's shoes (Pratte et al., 2021). This imagination could trigger emotions about what the other person could be feeling. The other way is through paying attention to the other person’s body language. Despite the person speaking, the individual can experience their feelings through non-verbal communication. For example, the person can have a sad face when explaining an experience. Checking non-verbal communication could help understand how the other person feels.
