Methodology
The method for the proposal is a case study, where the research will look at the nature of eating disorder in the United States. This case study will involve finding out the nature of the problem in the United States. The study will also look at the life patterns of the Americans suffering from an eating disorder, and the impact of attending nutritional counseling and medication on a regular basis. The case study will also investigate how early diagnosis of this disorder plays an important role in the medication and recovery process. The case study will also look at how the victims of eating disorder, especially children and adolescents may be assisted through family therapy. Finally, this case study will involve finding out the benefits of embracing regular medical treatment, and individual therapy in eradicating the prevalence of eating disorder among adolescents and children in the United States.
This case study will involve the collection of data from various sources on the prevalence of eating disorder in the United States population. In addition, data on the spread of eating disorder among adolescents and children, as well as, across the genders in the United States will also be considered. The case study will involve gathering information from the learning centers and schools. This is because; schools were identified as effective in reaching out to the young people suffering from an eating disorder. Most of the children and adolescents suffering from the eating disorder attend school; thus, credible information would be collected from this point.
Participants
The proposed participants for the study are the students, and teachers of the schools in the United States. The proposed research will involve schools from three cities, which include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. One school will be selected at random in each city. The students will give information on their experience or awareness of the eating disorder while the teachers will give their views on the prevalence of the problem in their schools, and the best way to solve the problem.
The participants will be given a questionnaire form to fill. From the population, of four schools identified, the research looks forward to receive 40 filled questionnaires; each school will have 10 questionnaire forms to fill. In other words, the target population of participants will be 40 participants, ten from each school. The proposed location for filling the questionnaire form will be in the school.
A representative sample will be drawn through simple random sampling technique. In this case, from 40 participants will define the population. They will all be listed as members of the population. Each of the participants will be numbered, after this, the sample needed [eight responses], will be selected. In this case, from the 10 views of the participants of each school, two will be picked from each school, creating a representative sample of eight responses from participants.
