10  Introduction Today the world is in danger of the so called organized crimes. The organized crimes represents one of the largest businesses in the world .They are threat to the world peace, humanity security, human rights and not to mention the impact they pose towards the development of societies and nations all over the world; economically, socially, culturally, politically, and civil developments. A recent study in the US shows that the total profits attained through the transnational organized crime activities have surpassed $ 6 trillion. The transnational organized crime economy is the third economy in the world after the US and European economies. It is really ahead of the china’s well growing economy (Farah, 2012). Criminals were originally organized locally but as a result of globalization they have became global institutions. As a result, they able to form alliances with other organized criminals in different countries hence spreading their scope and extent of their activities. These activities range from legal to illegal businesses which are giving great challenge to the common market rules and democracy (Kerry 1997). This report seeks to provide an overview of the problems and various relationships established by these organized crime groups. It also aims at establishing the legal limitations associated with controlling the trend, offer a critique of the major federal laws and strategies that support this effort and finally offer a solution to this problem. Defining organized crime The different ways of approach to the organized crime by people and countries have posed a great challenge to its definition. However, there has been an effort globally in coming with a common understanding of this issue in reference to the form of crime it assumes. This would make it easier to deal with the transnational crimes. It is vital to understand what could be regarded as organized crime which will reflect how it can be defined. This will not only help in defining but also in understanding better ways of resource allocation to compact the problem (Lyman & Potter, 2007). Organized crime have similar characteristics that represent a process or method of committing crimes, not a distinct type of crime itself, nor even a distinct type of criminal. It can be defined as a kind of crime committed with the aspect of a process; specific criminals carrying out crime activities within a transnational ring. It is out of this process that increases the danger and social threat. The following is the definition given under the United States federal law on organized crime (Farah, 2012). According to the united states law, organized crime means the unlawful activities of members of a highly organized, disciplined association engaged in supplying illegal goods and services, including but not limited to gambling, prostitution, loan sharking, narcotics, labor racketeering, and other unlawful activities of members of such associations”. This is according to the federal statutes under public law 90-351. It emphases organized crime in terms of unlawful activities more than those who commits the crimes. It goes further to list some of the activities of an organized crime group but they are not usually those that define organized crime. Organized crime as said earlier poses great challenge to humanity today, the following are some of the problems presented by these organized criminals among others (Farah, 2012). Problems posed by organized crime Violence It has been evident all over United States, that these organized criminals pose a great challenge to peace. They usually use violence involving firearms for the sole purpose of promoting their interests. The violence acts aims at intimidating and coercing the people and communities. Out of violence they are able to create an environment that is conducive for their activities. Illegal Drugs This is the heart of the world organized crimes; the trade of illegal drugs has more criminal activity than any other criminal market. Activities as a result of trading of illegal drugs have lead to other greater impacts to the society as the criminals tries to controls certain location and buyers looking for capital to buy the products. Some of the activities include assaults, homicides and property crimes. The uses of these drugs have also negatively affected the users in many ways. Methamphetamine This product is very addictive and poses a great physical threat to the users. It usually makes the users very aggressive in doing things which includes violence. This product has high demand and as result companies that produce it have been affected negatively as the criminals look for ways of getting the product. The residences around those companies have not been spared either. More importantly, as result of security threat the properties around those places have been depreciating at a very high pace. Financial Crime Organized crimes have highly affected the economy of the United States through payment card and mortgage frauds.
