Preparing an Implementation Plan
Develop an implementation plan (500-750 words). The elements that should be included in your plan are listed below:
Strategies for obtaining necessary approval(s) and securing support from your organization's leadership and fellow staff. If you are proposing a change in current policy, process, or procedure, first describe the current policy, process, or procedure as a baseline for comparison.
Description of implementation. (When and how will the change be integrated into the current organizational structure, culture, and workflow? Who will be responsible for initiating the change, educating staff, and overseeing the implementation process?)
Resources required for implementation: stakeholders; assessment tools (questionnaires, surveys, pretests and posttests to assess knowledge of participants at baseline and after intervention); technology (technological or software needs); funds (cost of educating staff, printing or producing educational materials, gathering and analyzing data before, during, and following implementation); and staff to initiate, oversee, and evaluate change.

Nurses play significant roles in ensuring that patients are well taken care of and that they improve their health conditions. The information and communication technologies (ICTs) comprise all the digital technologies that caregivers can use to support data storage, information exchange, and processing to promote health, manage chronic diseases, treat illnesses, and prevent outbreaks. In addition, ICTs entail devices that allow nurses to offer remote healthcare services, knowledge transfer, and interdisciplinary clinical support. In that light, using ICTs can significantly foster the improvement of patient care, information sharing, patient-centered healthcare, lowering treatment costs, encourage a proper patient-nurse relationship, decrease the time used to travel to hospitals, and educate both patients and healthcare professionals (Rouleau, Gagnon, & Cote, 2015). The proposed solution is the inclusion of a procedure that would allow caregivers to use ICTs to attend to their clients’ needs. The reason for selecting this solution was that an effective procedure would allow nurses to undertake their duties effectively. At this juncture, implementing a new policy might be challenging due to privacy concerns. However, developing a procedure that would allow caregivers to use ICTs will be feasible to improve nursing care. Nurses can have significant achievements in the provision of quality healthcare services if they are allowed to use ICTs to communicate with their patients and keep in touch with them to determine and address any upcoming problem that might hinder the treatment plan.

There exist various strategies for obtaining necessary approvals and securing support from my organization’s leadership and fellow staff. First, demonstrating to them how the inclusion of the ICTs can significantly impact healthcare service outcomes can convince them to adopt the new procedure. For instance, it is evident that opiate withdrawal has a broad range of symptoms that can make it challenging for addicts of these drugs to resume their normal lives. Some signs include muscle soreness, sweating, uncontrollable yawning, runny nose, nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea, fever, and dilated pupils (Opiate.com, 2021). As such, nurses should ensure that they are close to individuals recovering from opiate addiction by using ICTs so that they can encourage them to avoid relapse. Second, compiling peer-reviewed journals that depict the positive impacts of ICTs on nursing care can help to persuade my organization’s leadership team and colleagues.
Furthermore, using real-life examples is another strategy that an individual can use to convince the hospital management about the benefits of using ICTs in improving patient care. The primary objective is to show managers and fellow physicians that ICTs have the solution to numerous problems that specialists encounter as they try to help their patients recover from various health issues. For example, nurses can follow up on their clients’ statuses remotely (Rouleau, Gagnon, & Cote, 2015). In most cases, sick people visit hospitals and they leave after being treated. Afterward, caregivers have no way to reach out to them and check whether the treatment provided is working successfully or not. On that note, such patients only return to a bad health condition if the treatment did not work as expected. With the use of ICTs, it would be possible to communicate with such clients and guide them accordingly to avoid adverse consequences or side effects of their prescriptions.
The implementation will be done by integrating the procedure into the current organizational structure, culture, and workflow. The best thing is that using ICTs is not a new thing and many staff members will not find it difficult. In particular, the organization should start by establishing the grounds for using electronic devices, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other mobile gadgets (Rouleau et al., 2017). All healthcare professionals should be allowed to use these devices while at work to meet their clients’ needs. The organization should implement an Internet connection to enhance remote communications with patients and other relevant stakeholders. Leaders should initiate the change and educate the staff on how to use ICTs constructively. Managers and supervisors should oversee the implementation process to ensure that clinicians understand how to use ICTs to improve service delivery to their patients.
The successful implementation of the procedure of using ICTs in my organization requires various resources. All stakeholders should be informed about the benefits of nursing informatics and ICTs in enhancing patient-centered treatment. Some of the aspects that should be discussed include time management, information access, and quality, nurse autonomy, interprofessional collaboration, care planning, caregiver-patient relationship, effective communication, educating patients and their families, and patient dissatisfaction or satisfaction with ICTs (Saba, 1997). Surveys and questionnaires should be used to determine whether many stakeholders support the procedure or not. Specifically, stakeholders include patients, nurses, doctors, therapists, leaders, managers, supervisors, and other relevant parties. Individuals should be given a chance of sharing their thoughts about implementing ICTs and how they can improve patient care and service delivery.
