Research on diabetes highlighted on the need to understand population needs of patients before implementation of intervention program. At the same time, the research on Hepatitis C virus focused on the need to sensitize patients on personal hygiene and sharing of needles or syringes. It was also necessary to look into the trends that affect health status in diverse populations and there impact on health status. In particular, highlighting on the environmental factors on Hepatitis C bridges the knowledge gap on the impact of care delivery among high risk populations as well as identifies the most appropriate prevention strategies.
The intervention program on type 2 diabetes affecting overweight middle aged women aptly captures how the course objectives are met. Since this was community based it was easier to identify the needs and health concerns of the population as well as choose intervention strategies. Even before the program has been rolled out, research on type 2 diabetes will help to design an appropriate health project of the population. Focusing on the need to control the risk factors, the program helps to integrate knowledge on the most effective means through which to improve the lifestyle choices of middle aged women with type 2 diabetes. Similarly, a study on diabetes showed that understanding the risk factors helps to facilitate preventive strategies that take into account the health needs of the population integrating evidence based practices in intervention.
