The patient profile is a 6-year-old child who has mild asthma and whose condition has worsened due to a viral respiratory infection. This patient also provides an excellent learning opportunity for the student nurse to observe and carry out basic assessment skills, including respiratory status monitoring, taking vital signs, and interacting with a young patient and his family. Skill Development Activities Various relevant activities will be used to boost the student nurse's confidence during this first clinical session with the student nurse.
