1 Introduction and Research Methodology Statement The way of watching TV has changed since the appearance of online video streaming platforms. People today no longer wait in front of their TV for shows but watch them on-demand with phones, tablets, and computers. For several years, this trend had been going on even before COVID-19 boosted the entire streaming services industry even further. As an avid subscriber of several streaming platforms and a longtime cable TV user, in this research paper, I aim to examine the impact of online streaming service on the conventional TV industry and determine the possibility of streaming services replacing the traditional TV providers in the future. This paper will be heavily academic-literature-driven because I hope to see worldwide scholars’ opinions on the rapid evolution of streaming services. I am also eager to learn how conventional TV providers and practitioners are responding to such challenges. Research Questions • What are some of the most decisive advantages of streaming services over traditional cable services? • Will streaming platforms be able to replace traditional TV service providers completely? • What are some long-term impacts of online streaming services having on conventional TV? Literature Review Kohli, C. . “The Replacement of Conventional Television by Streaming Services”. International Journal of Research in Engineering, Science and Management, vol. 3, no. 10, Oct. 2020, pp. 59-67, https://www.journals.resaim.com/ijresm/article/view/337. The author of this paper researched the impact of streaming services in India. The findings show that India’s streaming services are mature enough to replace traditional television providers and even influence film and television production in the country.

Sec$on 1: Introduc$on – You will present the phenomenon under invesCgaCon. Here, you should provide some basic background appropriate to the topic. Sec$on 2: Evidence – Here is the crux of your paper, where you will explore the topic through research and examining what others have said. There are mulCple approaches you might take that we will discuss in class. Sec$on 3: Conclusion – In this secCon, you will present your conclusions on the topic. Please keep in mind that conclusions might integrate your opinion (based on findings) but should not be wriMen as “I think” or “My opinion is…” sentences. You will be graded on your successful compleCon of the three secCons (we will discuss what this might look like in at least two lectures), on your ability to synthesize extant thoughts and research, and on your ability to draw informed conclusions. According to Vankiani and Chedda (2020), big networks such as CBS and NBC will have to adapt to the change following the domination of streaming platforms in the entertainment industry. The economic impact is one of the most critical aspects of the shift from traditional cable to online streaming. Notably, the introduction of internet streaming has made it convenient for people to watch television shows and films on a global scale, especially for people with internet access. Internet streaming is cheaper and reliable as compared to the cable network, thus, making the shift for the consumers more convenient. In most cases, mobility and immediacy are the key advantages of online streaming services for consumers. In the most developed countries such as the United States, the amount of time that spend watching television shows has dropped significantly (Tryon, 2013). Instead, most people have shifted to online streaming platforms for their entertainment needs. Currently, online companies deliver most of their content online while the services from satellites decline. In future, online streaming will amount to high data traffic for entertainment purposes. The rise of mobile and online viewing has resulted in significant implications for the traditional subscription television business. Although the evolution of online streaming has significant impacts on entertainment convenience, it has resulted in declined popularity of traditional cable television.
