The purpose of the Learner's Log Book (LLB) is to document the achievements of the learner in a central repository that will be considered as evidence on the effectiveness of the learning process. It is a 'monitoring tool' that e-tutors use to report on individual learners' progress and it is a way of ensuring that learners:
ü Are engaged in their learning process.
ü They are experimenting by doing the tasks subscribed to them by the e-tutor.
ü Avoid plagiarism because learners have to be engaged on a continuous basis and the informal assessment can therefore be used to ensure consistency with the main formal assessment.
ü Provide e-Tutors with the opportunity to get to know the learners evaluate them and mentor them properly.
ü There are templates which will reflect whether learners read, whether they understand, whether they assimilate the knowledge, whether they develop enquiry ability, whether they have the potential to conduct critical thinking and whether they can reflect on the knowledge accumulated by relating to real situations.
The onus is mainly on learners to furnish the required information in the templates after each unit based on the Read and Analyze Activity. After filling the information in the template they need to e-mail it back to the e-Tutor
e-Tutor will then comments on the work done and the involvement that takes place and give overall impressions on the learners at the end of the module.

I. INSTRUCTIONS

III. SUMMARY
Organizations all over the world are focusing on quality to restore competitive edge and improve overall productivity. This led to quality experts introducing novel ideas into the global market place, which made organizations to shift focus from mere productivity at the expense of quality. This is mostly because productivity alone does not guarantee customers’ satisfaction and or competitive advantage.
This paper focuses on the article "Comparing three Quality Management Gurus: W. Edwards Deming, Philip B. Crosby, and Joseph M. Juran". These three management experts have contributed immensely to the study of quality science. This essay concentrates on their approaches as comprehensive management philosophies; it also looks at their introduction of ideas such as merchandise improvements and customer satisfaction through leadership.
Deming defines quality through customer satisfaction; he asserts that the customer is the one able to define the quality of any product or service. He takes a system and leadership approach to quality; he states that without profound knowledge, management action can cause ruination
Juran on the other hand defines quality as fitness for use; he emphasizes the importance of establishing a balance between product features and products free from deficiencies. He proposes a strategic and structured approach to achieve quality, these include the spiral of progress in quality, the breakthrough sequence, the project by Project Approach, The Juran Trilogy, and the Principle of the vital few and Trivial many.
According to Crosby, quality means conformance to requirements (Crosby, 1979).He defines quality as either being present or not present. This is the price of non –conformance. Crosby developed the following formula; Cost of Quality (COQ) = Price of Conformance (POC) + Price of Non - Conformance (PONC). The POC according to Crosby refers to the cost of getting things done right the first time. His approach to quality is prevention and is best described by the following concepts; do it right the first time, zero defects and zero defects day, The Four Absolutes of Quality, The Prevention Process, The Quality Vaccine and the six C’s.
IV. KEY LEARNING POINTS
All the three gurus discussed in this paper agree that the customer is the final decider of the quality with respect to a particular product or service. As such, Total Quality Management (TQM) ought to focus on customer satisfaction as the ultimate achievement with respect to a particular product or service.
Additionally, it is established from the article that Customer feedback forms the basis and measure for quality management. As well, suppliers should be involved in the quality effort; in order to achieve quality, the products and services provided by the supplier should not be inferior.
