Abstract Kaizen may mean a call that focuses on the ever changing situations towards the realization of improvements from a given point or perspective. There is a need for competition across the globe. However, it can only take place with the consideration of factors such as innovation, cost management and the improved qualities. With such factors in place, developments can, therefore, occur within the shortest time possible (Hill, 2014). The Japan country that invented the Kaizen concepts had very limited resources especially the land; therefore, it had to take a keen interest in the conservation of the waste materials generated from its industries. There is a possibility of making use of the generated wastes into profit; therefore, everyone should actively participate in such activities that aim towards the realization of profit generation from wastes. Since Kaizen implies improvements with the use of the least effort and money spent too, the report, therefore, will present how these concepts become a reality in an organization.
Dr Deming; The Quality Guru Life History And Education The 20th Century in the Iowa State of the United States of America marked the birth of a baby, who was to be later one of the quality gurus, Dr. Deming. He proceeded to Wyoming University for studies in 1917 where he got his Electrical Engineering degree four years later. Deming then proceeded to the University of Colorado for his Masters degree in Mathematics and Physics and then winded his studies at Yale University for his Doctorate in Physics. However, Deming shifted his focus into statistics after broadly studying Physics as his career. In this instance, therefore, he worked with the United States Census Bureau in 1940. It is from the experience he got from this job that he began to develop the concept of Statistical Quality Control.His Work Impacts Dr. left his job to start his private business in 1946. His main customers were from the industries such as the manufacturing, communication, transport, health, government and the research bodies. He conducted most of his statistical based research issues at the New York University. The quality revolution of the gargantuan significance on the American manufactures mainly resulted from the lectures delivered by Dr. His lectures brought a lot of improvements on the quality and satisfaction of needs of people. In fact, it is through the Dr. Deming's teachings on quality control in Japan that effectively brought a lot of the industrial revolution in the country. Deming's teachings in Japan were, therefore, the automobile, marine, and the electronic industries.Awards of Merit Due to the successful impacts of Deming's teaching in the country of Japan, the country thereafter awarded him creation of the yearly prize giving occasion for his honor. The occasion is the Deming Prize as a show of his respect and honors towards his great contribution in the quality control or management (Mukherjee, 2010). In his native country, that is the United States of America, he obtained the Stewart Medal in 1956 from the American Society for Quality Control. As an International Statistical Institute member, Dr. Deming managed, therefore, to win their elections in 1986. Dr. Deming got many degrees L.L.D and Sc.D. Honorius Causa from over fifteen universities in the United States of America. He was, therefore, much-respected scholar in this instance because of many contributions he made in the quality management. Yale University also awarded him the Wilbur Lucas Cross Medal, while the Rivier College awarded him the Madeleine of Jesus.Publications Dr. Deming made many publications and a total of one hundred and seventy-one papers during his lifetime. Some of his books such as the Out of the Crisis (MIT/CAES, 1986) and The New Economics (MIT/CAES, 1994 today exist in so many languages. The translations, therefore, makes his idea reach almost all corners of the world. His teachings also affected people's lives through the films and videotapes he produced. The productions further enhanced the success of teachings to people.
Death Dr. Deming passed away when he was 93 years old in the year 1993. The world will forever remember the scholar for his great contributions in the quality managements.
Quality Tool A quality is that methodology or technique useful in the quality management issues and their related philosophies and also the programs that associated with it. The organization, therefore, can apply the use a quality tool at all its levels long as the organization adheres to the type of a quality tool it decides to apply or use. Kaizen as one of the quality tools aims to carry out such processes like reviewing and evaluation of the activities in an organization and thereafter generate the conclusions from its findings on the cause of the problems it found.Kaizen as Quality Tool Kaizen, a Japanese language that means good change mostly has its applications in the areas such as healthcare, government, banking and other related industries. The application of Kaizen in the mentioned areas, therefore, enhances their continuity through the improvement of the functions or the activities relating to these areas. The activities and functions of these areas may include the employees, the functional processes occurring in the organization such as purchases and the logistical issues especially in the supply chain. Kaizen in these fields in an organization aims to reduce wastes that results from the production, processing, or the manufacturing activities taking place in an organization (Alukal, & Manos, 2006). Kaizen concepts first gained their use in Japan after the end of the Second World War. The concepts of the Kaizen spread into the country through the influences brought by the scholars of business and quality management from the United States of America.
