Facts
On Thursday of 11th November 2021, Jon Gruden, the former Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach, sued Commissioner Roger Goodell and the National Football League (NFL) in Clark County District Court. Gruden resigned from his team’s position as a head coach on October 11, 2021 (Gordon, 2021). This happened after The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal released articles based on his emails between 2010 and 2018. Gruden accused the parties of sharing private emails and alleging that the former Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach used misogynistic, racist, and homophobic terms. Although the NFL gathered 650,000 emails from the public during its investigations, only Gruden’s emails were shared with the media, which the plaintiff says was a breach of privacy. Gruden wants to recover his money and an excess of $15,000 (Gordon, 2021).
