Community Environment and the Creativity of Musicians in the Chinese Cultural and Tourism Communities

Research Paper Instructions:

For this article I need to write the introduction section of a medium sized research report

Writing requirements.

In addition to the normal structure of an introduction (e.g. background, current situation...) I need to specify three to five formal research questions that are clear and closely linked to the research topic and that set the scene for the research report (research method, literature review, analysis) that follows.

I need to see outline what you are doing (research question), why you are doing it (research significance), links to existing literature, and describe how this thesis will answer this question and frame it.

The following are my reasons and motivations for writing.

Many communities around the world, including in China, are currently being built deliberately, and American research has coined this type of community building as the academic term 'creative placemaking', creative placemaking is a concept that This can take the form of public art installations, and cultural events/activi This can take the form of public art installations, and cultural events/activities.

Source of the phenomenon

One of the community examples I am currently interested in is an art community on the Qinhuangdao seaside in Beidai River, China, called Aranya. this community is a typical creative placemaking community. This community uses ‘content’ as its main tool to provide the best art resources in China to their community, and has a very good community environment (e.g. art architecture, natural environment), which attracts a lot of art lovers and artists. They also have a special service system that divides the community owners into different interest groups and gives them the best art resources and activities. The community is also very supportive of artists, apart from multiple activities/events, Aranya has recently launched an artist-in-residence programme, which has attracted a large number of artists/musicians to the community. Many of the artists are embedded in this environment (the natural environment, the community lifestyle, the art scene...) They draw inspiration and create very innovative music pieces, many of them related to the community.

So I want to address this artistic phenomenon and find the relevance of creative placemaking communities and the creativity of community musicians in music-making. Maybe it's an environmental factor, maybe it's a communitywellbeing factor, not sure at the moment.

I am hoping that the writer can help me decide on an academic research topic and research question that fits very well with the requirements of the PhD through his extensive experience. This is the challenge I am currently facing and the research question can follow the logic of the book 'the craft of research'.

Research questions are extremely important for this writing so please give me a really experience writer.

I hope the writer can optimise both my question and the topic, as at the moment I'm not sure if the title is a passable research title for the moment. We can discuss in the writing process.

I will attach some small reviews that I have written so far, and some parts of creative placemaking are available for reference. But the section on community music may not be as referenced because I have changed the goal of community music from the broad category of education to creativity studies.

Please give me some brief drafts or frameworks before writing.

This way I can be sure if it is the issue I want to express.

the file COMMUNITY MUSIC LEARNING AND CREATIVITY by Beatriz Ilari1, Susan Helfter and Peter Webster might be a important start point for my topic

I'm not sure if this topic is too broad at the moment, 1. Creativity is too broad?

2. whether creative placemaking community is too broad? whether it should be implemented to the environmental factors, programme design factors, or emotional factors of creative placemaking community

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS FROM THE CLIENT:

I need the writers assistance in identifying 2-5 precise research questions from these articles. I am leaning towards researching what the creative placemaking community has to say about musicians (community?)creativity. but haven't thought through which factors of the community effect creativity of musician to write from yet. I would like writers to help me think about this piece. And to complete the INTRODUCTION piece. This whole order is to complete the INTRODUCTION.

Maybe I'm more inclined to the emotional element generated by the environment? Or other psychological factors?

I am thinking about some questions, these questions are refer to the first file I upload to writer, but it is almost the same structure as that file. so it is just a sample, please let writer help me optimise my question. don't limited.

1. how do environments of Chinese creative placemaking communities affect on musicians‘ creativity by influencing their emotional states in a music-making/ music performance work?

2. What kind of emotional states enhance creativity of musicians in the process of community music-making/ music performance?

3. how are Chinese creative placemaking communities create environment to manipulate musicians’ emotions, with the target to enhance musicians’ creative thinking?

the logic of research question please follow the rule by a book named“ the craft of research”

Introduction
Background Information
The research topic is based on the context of Chinese culture and tourism communities. China is a country rich in cultural and artistic heritage, and its diverse communities are known for their unique cultural practices, including music (Ryan and Huimin, 2009). Music plays an essential role in Chinese culture, and community musicians are an integral part of many cultural and tourism communities across the country (Ilari and Webster, 2021). The Aranya Community is located on the Qinhuangdao Seaside in the Beidai River Region, China. It is known for its beautiful natural scenery and vibrant cultural heritage. The community has a strong tradition of music and dance, with many talented community musicians and performers (Ni, 2021).
The Aranya Community is focused on creative placemaking and possible values the arts. Local musicians may be viewed positively and potentially celebrated within the community (Wang, 2018). The Aranya Community actively seek out local musicians to perform or collaborate with as a way to promote the arts and foster a vibrant cultural atmosphere within the community. Other community members view local musicians as important contributors to the local cultural heritage and support efforts to encourage the development of new musical styles (Veblen, 2013). The perception of the Aranya Community towards local musicians is likely to be shaped by their values and priorities related to the arts, culture, and community building (Nouri, 2016).
The research seeks to explore the influence of the community environment on the creativity of community musicians in the Aranya Community and other similar cultural and tourism communities in China. The study aims to identify factors that contribute to creativity in community musicians, including the physical environment, social and cultural context, and community support, as asserted by Watson et al. (2009) and Tanaka et al. (2005). The recommendations of this study can have significant implications for promoting creativity, supporting local tourism, and fostering cultural exchange in these communities (Courage and Keown, 2019).
Research Questions
1 What is the perceived influence of the community environment on the creativity of musicians in the Aranya Community on the Qinhuangdao seaside in the Beidai River region of China?
2 How does the community environment in Chinese culture and tourism communities shape the creative process of community musicians?
3 In what ways do community musicians adapt their musical expressions to the community environment in which they perform?
4 How do the social, cultural, and economic factors of Chinese cultural and tourism communities affect the creative output of community musicians?
5 How do the Chinese creative placemaking communities shape the emotional states of musicians during music-making and performance?
Description of how the Thesis will Answer the Research Questions
In addressing the first question, the study will explore the perceived influence of the environment on the creativity of community musicians in the Aranya Community on the Qinhuangdao seaside in the Beidai River region of China. A qualitative research design, such as interviews or focus groups, is recommended for the data collection on the experiences and perceptions of community musicians in this region (Odena and Welch, 2009). The thesis will then analyze this data to identify common themes and patterns related to the perceived influence of the community environment on creativity.
To answer the second research question, the study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative data from interviews or surveys with quantitative data on factors such as musical training, performance history, and demographic characteristics (Almalki, 2016). The researcher will then analyze this data to identify correlations between community environment factors and creative outcomes.
A thesis addressing the third research question will investigate how community musicians adapt their musical expressions to the community environment in which they perform. The study will use a case study approach, focusing on a specific group of musicians and exploring how they modify their music in response to different audience contexts or performance settings (Hancock, 2021). The thesis will also use a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to examine factors such as musical structure, instrumentation, and performance style and explore how these adaptions contribute to the overall artistic output of community musicians.
To answer the fourth research question, the thesis will examine how social, cultural, and economic factors of Chinese cultural and tourism communities affect the creative output of community musicians. The approach of mixed methods will be utilized to gather data on both objective and subjective factors that influence creative output, including economic and political conditions, cultural heritage, and social dynamics within the community. The thesis will then analyze data to identify patterns and relationships between these factors and the creative output of community musicians. The analyzed data will also be useful for exploring how the identified factors might be addressed to promote more vibrant and sustainable artistic communities.
In addressing the fifth research question, the study will investigate how Chinese creative placemaking communities shape the emotional states of musicians during music-making and performance. The thesis will apply a mixed-methods approach to gather data on both objective and subjective factors that influence emotional states, such as physical environment, social context, and musical structure. The thesis will then analyze the data to identify correlations between these factors and emotional responses.
Research Objectives
1 To investigate the community environmental factors that influence the creativity of community musicians in Chinese cultural and tourism communities.
2 To examine how community musicians, adapt their musical expressions to the community environment in which they perform.
3 To explore the social, cultural, and economic factors of Chinese cultural and tourism communities that affect the creative output of community musicians.
4 To identify the emotional states of musicians during music-making and performance and how they are influenced by the community environment.
5 To conduct a case study of the Aranya Community on the Qinhuangdao Seaside in the Beidai River Region to understand the specific dynamics of community music-making in this context.
Significances of the Study
The current research topic has several potential research significances. The first implication is its contribution to knowledge. The study can contribute to the existing knowledge on the impact of the community environment on the creativity of community musicians in Chinese cultural and tourism communities. It can provide insights into the specific environmental factors that shape the creative output of community musicians in a unique cultural and tourism community in China (Kerr et al., 2015). Second, the study will be useful in cultural preservation. It can help to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Chinese music in the context of the Aranya community on the Qinhuangdao seaside in the Beidai River region of China. It can also contribute to the promotion of cultural tourism in the region by highlighting the role of community musicians in enhancing the cultural experience of tourists (Wang, 2021).
Next, the study is expected to have an impact on policy implications. The findings can inform policymakers and tourism managers of the importance of supporting and promoting community musicians in Chinese cultural and tourism communities. It can provide recommendations on how to create a supportive environment that enhances the creativity of community musicians in similar communities. The study is also associated with the promotion of capacity building (Titon, 2009). It can contribute to capacity building for community musicians in Chinese cultural and tourism communities. Ideally, it can provide insights into the skills and competencies required to thrive as community musicians in China and suggest training and development programs to enhance their skills.
Practical Applications of the Study Findings
One of the uses of the findings is the development of strategies for promoting creativity. The findings can be used to develop strategies for promoting creativity among community musicians in similar cultural and tourism communities. The strategies to motivate musicians include creating a conducive environment for creativity, organizing community-based music events, and providing resources and support to local musicians (Higgins and Willingham, 2017).
Another impact of the study findings will be associated with the design techniques of community spaces. The research findings can positively impact the design of community spaces, such as parks, plazas, and cultural centers, to create a supportive environment for creative expression. This can include providing spaces for musicians to perform and collaborate, as well as incorporating elements of local culture into the design (Wei et al., 2020).
