Research Paper Instructions:
Write a research paper on the following. The assignment has four requirements:
1.) Select a publicly-traded company that is traded on U.S. exchange. Locate the annual report for at least the last three fiscal years.
Analyze the financial statements for the company and review for large movements in specific accounts from one year to the next. In addition, review the notes to the financial statements as these are an integral part of the financial reporting package. Evaluate the balance sheet to determine if there are large changes in the company's assets, liabilities, or equity accounts. In addition, analyze the income statement and statement of cash flows.
2.) Calculate the following ratios for two years, the debt-to-equity ratio, current ratio, quick ratio, return on equity, and net profit margin. For each ratio, explain what the ratio tells you about the company.
3.) Prepare a vertical analysis of the income statement and balance sheet.
4.) Prepare a horizontal analysis of the income statement and balance sheet.
The research paper must include a title and a reference page and be formatted using APA writing style.
Note that your attached paper will automatically be submitted to Turnitin, and an Originality Report should be sent back to the classroom within around 15 minutes. The Originality report does not actually recommend changes. It does point out where you may need to add a citation or quotation marks (if not already cited). Once you use it a few times, you will appreciate this tool, as it will assist you in improving quality and content, as well as avoid plagiarism. Your goal is to keep direct quotations to a minimum and to make sure that you do not just cut and paste material. Ensure that all your references are cited. A report with a similarity index less than 25% is acceptable for undergraduate-level work.
Your paper will be evaluated according to the Writing Assignment Grading shown below. To maximize your grade, be sure to use the proper organization (intro, body, conclusion) and follow APA style. Your paper should have a title page and reference page, but you do not need an abstract for this assignment.

Financial Analysis of Coca-Cola
Introduction
The Coca-Cola Company, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the largest beverage companies and a leading global consumer brand. Founded in 1886, Coca-Cola is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (ticker symbol KO). Its product portfolio includes carbonated soft drinks, bottled water, sports drinks, juices, coffees, and teas. With operations in over 200 countries, Coca-Cola earns significant revenues from a variety of markets, thus making it an ideal candidate for financial analysis. This paper examines the financial performance of Coca-Cola over the past three fiscal years with reference to its financial statements, ratio analysis, and vertical and horizontal analysis.
Financial Statement Analysis
An examination of the consolidated financial statements of Coca-Cola for 2021, 2022, and 2023 reveals several significant trends.
Balance Sheet.
At the end of 2021, the total assets were $94.4 billion, slightly decreased to $92.8 billion in 2022, and then to $97.7 billion in 2023. In 2023, current assets are heading in the right direction by 18.3% owing to higher amounts of short-term investments and prepaid assets. PPE or property, plant, and equipment decreased in the period, indicating fewer capital expenditures. Goodwill declined slightly, meaning there was amortization or write-down of intangible assets. The shareholders' equity increased by a gradual increase of 24.9 billion to 27.5 billion in the years 2021 and 2023, respectively, and the liabilities, on the one hand, will decrease in 2022 before increasing in 2023.
Income Statement.
The net operating revenues rose in 2021 to 38.7 billion, 43.0 billion in 2022, and 45.8 billion in 2023. The net income declined marginally in 2022 (-2.3) but rebounded immensely in 2023 to 10.7billion, indicating efficient cost control and revenue increase. Cost of goods sold (COGS) has been increasing at a lower rate than Revenue in 2023, which has enhanced gross margins.
Cash Flow Statement.
Net cash flows of operations activities were relatively good, with 12.6 billion in 2021, 11.0 billion in 2022, and 11.6 billion in 2023. 2022 the decrease can be attributed to working capital and other operating adjustments. In financing cash flows, the symbolic view of dividend payments and buyback of shares focuses on the returns of Coca-Cola to its shareholders.
Ratio Analysis
To analyze the additional financial strength of Coca-Cola, five ratios were estimated in 2022 and 2023:
Debt-to-Equity Ratio: 2.59 (2022) - 2.56 (2023).
Penman (2013) considers the equity ratio a vital financial risk and capital structure measure. The slightly downward trend in this ratio indicates that Coca-Cola is slightly reducing its dependence on debt financing; hence, this is within the norms of financial stability analysis.
Current Ratio: 1.15 (2022) - 1.13 (2023).
The liquidity status...
