To ensure organizational goals are achieved, leaders must clearly define behavioral expectations, assess performance (individual, team, and organizational), and establish accountability systems that are fair and equitable….all while modeling appropriate behaviors themselves.
This assignment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of organizational behavior, including your knowledge of best practices to maximize employee performance and commitment. It will also help you to hone the skills and mindset necessary for leadership success.

OB Employee Handbook Assignment
Submission:
Overview: Select a company you are familiar with or that will be easy to learn more about – for most large and/or
widely known organizations there will be enough information on the internet for you to be able to complete this
assignment.
You should write this handbook as if you are a member of the executive leadership team at the company you select.
Your target audience will be incoming employees who will receive the handbook as part of their onboarding and
orientation process.
Your handbook should include the sections outlined below:
1. Introduction
Describe the company as a member of its leadership team. Reinforce for the reader why they have made a
great career choice to join your team.
Also, describe what an excellent performance would be in your company. You don’t need to write about any
specific job or task, just a general description of what is expected from a high-performing employee.
2. Individual Mechanisms
Individual mechanisms drive an employee’s behavior, which, in turn, can impact their team and organization as
a whole. Explain at least three individual OB mechanisms so your new employee understands what the
behavior expectations are in your organization. Provide guidance on how employees can demonstrate the
desired behaviors. Be sure to note consequences for unacceptable behaviors (based on your own
recommendations – these may not necessarily align with the actual company).
3. Group Mechanisms
Like most organizations, employees at your company work in a variety of formal and informal teams. As such,
group mechanisms shape everything from peer relationships to work coordination to conflict management…all
of which drives employee behavior. Share some best practices to help the reader be a more effective team
member and potential team leader.
4. Organizational Culture
Describe (to the best of your ability) the culture at your company, emphasizing how the organization’s values
and norms serve as a catalyst for employee behaviors and attitudes. In other words, explain how the “way we
do business” at your company should impact how the employee conducts themself in their work. Also, address
any organizational structure factors that may influence employee behaviors.
5. Summary
Wrap-up the manual with a simple summary that briefly recaps the importance of organizational behavior and
leaves the reader with a positive, supportive final sentiment.
6. Afterword
Briefly discuss how you, as a result of completing this course, have become more aware of your own behaviors
in the workplace. Are there behaviors you regularly exhibit that tend to have a positive impact on your
workplace team(s) and organization? Do you exhibit behaviors that you now see could be counterproductive?
How will you apply OB practices to your own behaviors?
Completing the Assignment: Reflect on your responses in the Milestone Activities to complete this final assessment.
Think of this handbook as a way to help employees in the company you selected be the best (not the worst)
colleague/teammate. In addition to conducting some research on the company you selected, also consider exploring
additional information about OB best practices.
The final paper should be 8 - 10 pages written in APA style. Text size should be 12-point (headings can be up to 18-
point) and in a professional font, such as Times New Roman or Arial. Because this is a handbook and not a research
paper, consider incorporating images (photos, graphs, font colors, etc.) to make the document more visually appealing.
The completed assignment should be error free, appropriately cited, submitted on time through Brightspace, and
demonstrate a solid understanding of the course CLOs.
Grading: This is a summative assessment designed to measure your proficiency with CLOs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Organizational Leaders Presentation
As the human resource director, I want to extend my warm welcome to you all and thank you for joining PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited (PwC hereafter). Statistics indicate that PwC is a great employer, with approximately 350,000 employees across 152 countries, as shown in Figure 1 (Statista, 2022). Our organization offers immense professional development through offering training and development opportunities. We believe in shaping our employees' business acumen to ensure they have the relevant skills required in the marketplace. The training offers an opportunity to build the employees' experiences and credentials. At PwC, we appreciate diversity and promote inclusivity by acknowledging employee perspectives. Our organization is committed to developing responsible leaders while promoting meaningful community impact. PwC believes in the importance of a balanced work/life to ensure our employees operate at their optimal best. At PwC, we encourage employees to apply value-adding intelligence in their daily operations to ensure they perform well. Employees are encouraged to use their abilities and brilliant business acumen to make a difference in the organization.

Individual Mechanisms
At PwC, employees are expected to demonstrate great ethical standards by adhering to the rules and regulations that guide staff at PwC. Employees must adhere to our integrity, confidentiality, objectivity, and professional behavior standards. Research shows that employees who demonstrate ethical leadership have higher performance levels (Guo, 2022). I recommend adhering to the core principles at PwC, such as confidentiality, by protecting sensitive information from reaching an unauthorized individual. Employees should demonstrate integrity by being transparent and honest at all times. It is essential to demonstrate professional behavior by remaining professional at all times. For instance, when one meets an abrasive client, one must demonstrate emotional intelligence. At PwC, it is unacceptable to engage in confrontational fights with clients. In case one breaches any ethical guidelines, one might lose company privileges such as going on a vacation with others and immediate termination for repeat offenders. Therefore, it is mandatory to adhere to ethical guidelines.
Motivation and job satisfaction are crucial in ensuring that employees demonstrate increased productivity. Figure 2 indicates the global revenue of PwC from 2010 to 2021. There has been a 5% increase in revenue generation between 2020 and 2021, depicting that employee individual development translates to an increase in overall performance rate (Consultancy.asia, 2021). In this vein, employees should be committed to driving productivity and growing revenues for the organization. At PwC, we recognize employees who demonstrate excellent output, for instance, through completing tasks within the stipulated deadlines. Individuals should consistently demonstrate excellent output since we are an organization that advocates for excellence. Scientific management theory posits that it is essential to reward and acknowledge employees for excellent output and productivity (Braverman, 2020). At PwC, we reward employees based on their motivation levels and outstanding quality of work. Employees must deliver excellent work within the stipulated time. A decrease in job satisfaction results in low output among employees. When someone demonstrates poor output due to low motivation and job satisfaction, they will be summoned by their supervisor to determine their challenges. However, if they constantly repeat the same issue, then it might result in a suspension or termination.

Employees are expected to demonstrate adaptable behaviors to change scenarios since change is inevitable in organizations. When changes occur, employees should respond positively and leverage the opportunity for growth. It is thus vital to make decisions that favor the organization's overall success rather than for personal gain in times of change. Employees are required to make decisions that are profitable for the organization. Decision-making is a crucial element since it can affect the performance of an organization (Kozioł-Nadolna & Beyer, 2021). In times of change, an employee should consider the possible options and select the optimal decision. At PwC, employees must thoroughly analyze the information presented before considering an option. However, when employees demonstrate poor decision-making strategies, leading to increased costs and spending much time, they must answer to their supervisor.
At PwC, we value employees with positive behaviors that translate to increased job performance and effectiveness. Employees should demonstrate high levels of self-direction and take ownership of their actions. When given tasks, being self-driven and working with minimal supervision is necessary. According to Maslow's theory, one is motivated by the need to meet self-actualization and self-esteem needs such as respect (Numonjonovich, 2022). A self-directed employee is motivated by the need to gain respect and reach their full potential. Employees should consistently provide ideas by keeping up-to-date with current affairs. At PwC, we encourage employees to be self-sufficient to ensure that they demonstrate quality work. However, individuals who are not self-sufficient will receive some coaching and tools to incorporate. Failure to improve will result in a meeting with the supervisor to identify the challenges. If the employee bluntly refuses to make any effort, then it might result in a suspension since we believe in personal development.
Group Mechanisms
At PwC, working in groups builds respectful relationships and offers an opportunity to share opportunities and knowledge. As a team leader, one is expected to be a person of courage, personal integrity, and global vision. A leader should be dependable through thoughtful decision-making to ensure that other employees can trust them. Leaders should promote cohesion through tactful designation of roles that promote teamwork. At PwC, we promote a collaborative culture to ensure we obtain the bes...
