The study resource presents the governance of the Rome Empire which enabled it to grow as among the superpower countries in the Western region of the world. Rome developed a favoring social structure that consisted of class divisions and patron-client system with the traditional morality being established on the basis of virtual, fidelity, and devotion with the goals being toward country’s development rather than personal interest. The best approaches used to conquer their competitors and political enemies involved the formation of alliances with the former enemies which involved them directly in sharing the rewards of political, social, and economic expansions. The former slaves were granted permission to become citizens of the country thus reducing resistive pressure in territory expansion.[Plutarch, The Rise of Rome (London: Penguin UK, 2017)]
Considering that Rome contains different cultural and ethnical groups, the leadership established sensitive approaches to ensure that there were minimal conflicts in peace establishment era. The major challenges occurred with the existence of conflict between politicians and plebeians with the plebeians having a majority in followers within the country. Other challenges associated with the conquest of the Rome territory benefited many who managed to gain a position in the established government. However, the conquest resulted in crippling of the economy, bankrupting soldiers and farmers, strained food supply, and increased poverty in urban areas thus resulting in political tension within the region.[Plutarch, short title]
The establishment of the political strength of Rome is considered to be impactful in the Rome society, influencing most of the region in the enhancement of other developmental factors within the country. The diversity in political and social grounds was basically the major source of tension with each ethnic group seeking recognition. The Rome Empire was accommodating with acceptance of people from different political, social, ethnic, cultural, and political grounds. Establishment of the family as the foundation of Rome society created humanity within the society with the legal obligations being carried by social and legal obligations of the country. The culture had less value to education with children being educated by the educated Greek slaves, enabling the children to learn their culture and traditions. The rich families of the slave owners managed to join schools with paid teachers, which depicted a situation of social disparities in the Rome Empire. The Greek gods and Athens developed human morality with the personification of virtual, fidelity, and other moral values being other celebrated cults.
With the public mind, the thing that is of great concern is the influence of the patricians (social elites) and the plebeians (the rest of the population) to the economy and political field. Economic and political consideration was mainly determined by “number” with the majority managing to dominate the field. Since the government was ruled by the elected officials, the majority had a big say through voting thus bringing down the power for the elites in both political and economic fields.
