Saudi Arabia vs. Australia
Australia and Saudi Arabia are nations with differences and similarities. Saudi Arabia is found in the Middle East between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. The country is divided into thirteen provinces that are ruled by governors who are appointed by the king. The country has an estimated size of 1.96 million square kilometers. In comparison, Australia is surrounded by the ocean, implying the country lacks immediate neighbors. It also has an estimated are of 7,686,850 kilometers squared. The two countries have aspects like culture, the mining industries, and political structures that have both similarities and differences. It follows that this paper compares and contrasts Saudi Arabia and Australia by focusing on the culture, the mining industries, and political structures.
To begin with, both Australia and Saudi Arabia depend on mining as a major source of income. This owes to the reality that the gross domestic product realized from mining in Australia was eight percent between 2009 and 2010 (Geological Survey, 2010). Similarly, statistics highlight that mining is a major source of income in Saudi Arabia because Geological Survey (2010) argues that the gross domestic product of Saudi Arabia was expected to accelerate by 6.8 percent between 2011 and 2012. Additionally, the GDP realized from oil mining is Saudi Arabia accounted for 57 percent national’s GDP. It is evident that mining is a major source of income in both Australia and Saudi Arabia. Nonetheless, the GDP realized from mining in Australia is lower than the GDP realized from mining in Saudi Arabia.
It should be noted that the mining industry in Saudi Arabia and Australia is not limited to one commodity. As Geological Survey (2010) argues, Australia is rich in minerals such as coal, aluminum, and iron ore. Similarly, Saudi Arabia is endorsed with more than one mineral because Geological Survey (2010) argues that the country is rich in Aluminum, Iron ore, mineral fuels, copper, gold, and zinc. It follows that both countries are not only endorsed with more than one mineral, but they also have an ability to produce aluminum an iron ore. Both countries can also produce mineral fuels because Australia produces coal while Saudi Arabia produces oil. However, Saudi Arabia is endorsed with a higher variety of minerals than Australia.
It is critical that both Australia and Saudi Arabia have similar cultural aspects. For example, both countries place a lot of emphasis on the family. This is because the family is the basic social unit in both countries (McFarland and Wehbe-Alamah, 2014). Furthermore...
