2. In a post, respond to the following questions- make sure to respond in a short essay format.

Klass begins the essay with an example rather than a statement of her main idea. What effect does her example produce? How does it support her writing?

What is the tone of the essay? Is Klass trying to be humorous or serious about the jargon of her profession? Why?

Klass likens her experience of learning medical jargon to that of learning a new language (paragraph 18). Do agree or disagree that learning a professional jargon is like learning a new language? What are some confusing experiences she initially has?

Are there are places in your life you use a jargon that cannot be understood by an outsider? Think about the words you use in different situations. (family, school, job, sport, church, hobby, friend groups, etc.). Give 2-3 examples of the jargon you use.

3. Write two (2) responses, each at least 100 words long, to two (2) different classmates’ posts.

Your posts should go beyond saying “I liked what you said,” or “I agree with you.” Instead, your responses should substantially build on the ideas your classmates’ raised. You can contribute supporting evidence to what your classmates have written, you can elaborate on what they have said, you can suggest possible weaknesses in their posts, or offer a respectful disagreement with what they are saying.
