After reading "The Pros and Cons of Gentrification," I recognized the need to change the view of gentrification. I am hopeful that with more worldly Gen Z folks and millennials in the center of it all, it would be plausible to re-examine community surroundings authentically and challenge local authorities to address the issues at hand more appropriately. Gentrification should be anchored on augmenting cultural diversity and promoting sustainable communities, but this is not often what happens. When the affluent move into a new community, respecting the culture, value systems, and livelihoods of the already-established community is important. The opinions and needs of investors and other affluent visitors should come second to the people who lived in these neighborhoods and endured such environments long before they got there.
