He is also regarded as a French colonist, a soldier, an explorer, and a cartographer. During his lifetime, he made between 21 and 29 trips across the Atlantic Ocean (Cole, 2021). Another aspect that makes Samuel Champlain a globally recognized historical figure is his settlement in Quebec. In 1608, Samuel Champlain was appointed lieutenant, prompting him to set sail from France in Le Don de Dieu. He aimed to work hard with his men to ensure he found a good place to settle. Later, Samuel Champlain explored the Great Lake, and because of his relationship with people, he became very popular.
