The work of Herodotus on pre Islamic Arabia provides information on the social and trading habits of the Arabs. Herodotus viewed ancient Arabia as unique; in the sense that they stood by their long held unshakeable faith on the need to respect agreements. To further emphasize this point Herodotus shows that the Arabs were religious during this era. They held the belief that a king created the source of water beyond the desert.
