Medical Science Is Making Such Wonderful Advances
health in modern age
Aldous Huxley:
"medical science is making such wonderful advances that very soon no one will be well"
One theme that has appeared within this weeks discussion on health, is that of the individuals perception of their own "well-ness" regardless of their "health".
Upon reading these conversations the article by Cieszanowski et al., (2014) came to mind, here 666 volunteers were reviewed by a whole body MRI scan, all of whom were asymptomatic at the time. Within this cohort, there were 3375 incidental findings, with only 7 individuals without detectable abnormalities.
The findings from this article highlight that within an asymptomatic cohort there are a high proportion of individuals who could be classified as 'un-healthy'. Does this article alter your viewpoint of health?
