Throughout history, there have been various belief systems, providing societies with order and stability. One of such belief systems are based on Islam and Hinduism. The religions or belief systems represent powerful networks of beliefs that have helped shape live of millions of people around the world by providing hope, a sense of belonging and community to many families.
The Islamic religion was founded in the 7th century and is popular in the Middle East though it has also spread to other parts of the world. The founder of this religious belief is Prophet Mohammed with its main aim being providing order and stability, unity and meaning in life. It is worth noting that the Islam is a monotheistic religion which has influenced development of trade systems in addition to vast civilizations. The text of Quran, the Arabic language and the five pillars have provided the Muslims with a strong sense of community, bound by and defined by Sharia. The five pillars in this case include prayers, alms, faith, fasting and pilgrimage (Jost, et al. 2014). These have helped set up a structured lifestyle for the religious believers. For instance, prayers are conducted five times a day while facing Mecca, a city that is believed to be holy. Muslims are also expected to attend to go to the mosque on a weekly basis besides being required not to take alcohol or eat pork. By following the ideals set out in the Quran and mastering the Arabic language, Muslims attain a sense of community and belongingness within the society (Jost, et al. 2014).
