I am a Living Legacy and King of the Jungle
“Well, here I am, the new me, the old version is gone, and everything that will happen from now on must be euphoric. Everything must be lively; I mean, nobody even knows me. They do not know my name, behavior, and previous failures. I can be anything and everything I want to be; I can be the King of the Jungle and rule this entire kingdom. But what I want is to leave a legacy in this new chapter of life.” These thoughts flooded my mind when I was enrolled as a campus student. Everything went according to my expectations, and to some extent, it felt like it was the beginning of real life. I had this general perspective that they change when students go to campus. Some turn out to be the best, and others turn out to be the worst nightmares to their families and relatives. For me, I want to be the best. I want to be the campus talk.
I was stubborn; I used to do things that I would live to regret back then. I was used as an example when parents strived to change their children’s habits in our community. Despite the hatred I received, I never changed; it is like I had sworn an oath to be the bearer of echoes in that area. I was often involved in many cases; I am even lucky that I did not end up in juvenile or other correctional centers. I had a significant influence, but it was a bad influence. However, I was proud of myself because I was confident and sure of what I wanted in life. If it’s a good life, then I am working towards it. Now that it’s a new beginning, I want to be a focused individual.
Everything was messed up at one point. Everyone was invited to my birthday bash. Everything was ready for them; it was a full-fledged bash. This was a day that I wanted everyone to remember and talk about. The club was filled with food, drinks, alcohol, happy powders, and girls. The music was deafening, and everyone was dancing and partying, and even though the banters and mirth were inaudible, everyone seemed to be enjoying it. It was already late, and everyone had had too much alcohol and happy powder. I was also losing control, and I knew at some point that some of the guys were losing control as well, which is when the chaos ensued. A group of men, clearly gate-crashers, began acting aggressively and attacking my friends. We got into a huge fight, the club was destroyed, and many of us were injured. We had made our way out by the time the authorities arrived. That was a complete mess, but it was undoubtedly remembered, and it became the talk of the town. I am confident that this will be a memory because I have no intention of getting myself into similar situations in the future.
When I entered the campus, I ensured to be a better version of myself and never returned to my previous life. I began the change by attending my classes regularly, ensuring that I was never late or missed a class. I also began submitting schoolwork on time and tried my best to create it. I even helped some of my classmates struggling in some subject areas. I volunteered in organizations and participated in purposeful events too. I also stood up for some of my classmates who were targets of bullies. And, to the greatest extent possible, I avoided being attached to people I regarded as bad influences and cut back on going to parties and socializing. My actions were strange, but I know they were for the better.
Chris was my roommate; he was a simple guy who strived to be a “bad boy.” I don’t know why many boys want to be “bad,” but from experience, everything that accompanied this personality was incredible apart from the damaged reputation. Chris was from a wealthy family, and money played an imperative role in his social life. He went to parties, and to some extent, every girl and guy loved him, maybe because he was wealthy. Technically speaking, I also went to parties, but then I realized being good also has its disadvantages. No one pays attention to what you are doing and does not care about your existence. I was...
