From reading "Can't Pay, Won't Pay," it is clear that debt is a universal problem affecting many people. Debt has become a shackle that has given a lot of people, despite their race, religion, and gender, something in common. As a result, there is a need to push for a new social contract that helps free people from this debt (Debt, 187). For the longest time, people have been duped into thinking that they cannot live without debt. They have been lured into taking loans and spending the rest of their lives paying them back. What I found most intriguing from the reading is that there is a need for strategic disobedience, which needs to occur globally. Additionally, there is also a need for debt refusal to ensure that the past damages caused by institutions that aim to take control of people's lives are repaired.
