The 13th amendment of the United States Constitution was approved to abolish slavery. The amendment was against any form of slavery or involuntary servitude unless it was punishment for crime. Compared to other constitutional amendments, the amendment has not been cited in law cases but has been used to bash racial segregation and servitude as forms of slavery. The amendment empowered the legislators of the United States to formulate laws that fought modern types of slavery. A slave is not able to exercise his legal rights because they are termed as someone's property.
Iris young, in her model, highlighted the five aspects of oppression. These five aspects included exploitation, cultural imperialism, violence, marginalization, and powerlessness. In her model, Young argued that oppression could not be captured without recognizing other social groups that faced oppression.
