Read the following sections [4 Pages] that engage Father Haight’s presentation on spirituality and the need for interiority
The Meaning of Spirituality, pp. 135-136;
God’s Purpose of Human Freedom and Action, pp. 136-138;
Union with God, pp. 138-139; and
Resurrection Hope, p 139.
You are required to summarize in a concise and accurate manner—in your own words—the central insights and argument that an author presents in a text or passage. In many ways, the challenge in writing a précis is to restate—in your own words—the author’s central thesis and major evidence that an author uses to support their argument. As mentioned above, in identifying the author’s primary aim and purpose, you need to avoid offering your own evaluation or reaction. Ultimately, the objective in this part of the learning exercise is for you: (a) to engage a text in a serious fashion, and (b) to offer a concise summary in your own words of the assigned reading.
Once this is done, in three or four sentences, identify two essential or powerful insights that you have derived from this reading assignment? In other words, after completing your analysis of the text and writing a concise summary, what are the two main “takeaways” from your learning?

In God's Purpose of Human Freedom and Action, the author clearly states human beings' role in serving the Almighty. God has accorded humans the freedom to do as per their will, however, the ultimate test lies on their ability to resist sin and serve their neighbors at the individual and social level (Haight 137). Sin is the earthly test that would separate the strong and weak Christians. In Union with God, the author argues that one finds unity with God through their whole action and not a single action. As such, Christians need to cultivate good deeds throughout their entire life (Haight 138).
