Earlier this semester, I attended an online service from a Roman Catholic mass celebration /live/SHx4ZfUjP5U?feature=share. and changed my view of the catholic deity. Initially, I thought catholicism was a cult as they adored the statute of the Virgin Mary who is believed to be the Mother of Jesus, Son of God. Further, I learned that they believe in angels and saints and always celebrate and acknowledge their presence. Also, I learned that disciples who died and ascended to heaven were transformed into saints and petitioned on behalf of human beings.
Unlike other doctrines, like Judaism Islam, and other religions, the Catholic religion believes in Jesus and his teaching. Also, Catholics present an identity of humility, repentance, and followers of the word of God. Most of the teaching is based on what Jesus taught and strives to emulate his life. The service presents three aspects of time; the traditional, the virtuous, and the future represent the aspect of time as they follow the traditional ways of worship from ancient times. For instance, the new testament account for the life of Jesus Christ from his birth to death. It also implies that whoever wants to go to heaven and see the Father who is God, must follow Jesus’ teaching as He is The Way and the Truth and the Light. Therefore whoever believes in Him and follows his teaching will go to heaven or hell for the sinners. Deacon Gerald read from the Luke gospel, in the new testament how Jesus asked his disciples to pray and fast to see the kingdom of God. Further, he elaborated on the teaching of Jesus Christ and how Christians should strive to be like Jesus.
