In Home and Exile, Chinua Achebe discusses African literature written by foreigners. Furthermore, he talks about all the fascinating events in the 1950’s in Africa. The book is made up of three essays which are quite interlinked and create a sustained argument from the beginning to the end. The essays, in order of presentation, are ‘My Home Under Imperial Fire’, ‘The Empire Fights Back’ and ‘Today, the Balance of Stories’. This paper will focus on the second essay where a description of what Achebe meant by "The Empire Fights Back’’ will be established.
