Name: Course: Tutor: Date: My Life at Fairfield Prep Introduction Fairfield Prep is one of the best places that I have ever been. I have learnt a number of aspects that have impacted my life in a positive way. After the completion of my education, I would like to practice all that I have learnt at Prep. There are various aspects that have changed my life after joining Prep. Such areas include being open to my growth in life, being intellectually competent, becoming religious in my life, loving to all the people that I meet and being committed to doing justice in different places. In the essay, I have outlined the aspects and discussed them in detail on the way in which Prep has impacted my life in the various aspects. Open To Growth Schools promote education. The learning students get from schools must be of quality for the community and the public to embrace schools. Educational quality is evaluated from the kinds of graduates a school produces. At the time of graduation, a student must show from his actions or reasoning that he has attained the qualification the school and the society requires. In schools students characters, attitudes, emotions, and rationale are changed; the students become more responsible with their lives and the lives of others. Personal growth is measured by how responsible a graduate is in his life. In Jesuit School as a student, I have been exposed to activities such as retreat and reflection period that have impacted and are continuing to impact my personal growth. Prep has made me a responsible person. Before coming to this high school, I did not realize the importance of being responsible. After staying in this school for some time, I now recognize that through responsibility, excellence can be accomplished; this I have seen from both my academic and co-curriculum activities. Being a responsible person has helped me manage my time successfully, I know when to handle my assignments, play and join friends in the various clubs in the school. The mentality of good time management the school has instilled in me is beneficial, and I know it will help me manage myself in the college. Schools aim to make the students develop both mentally and physically. Physical developments are mostly promoted by the professional sports team after schools. From Prep, I have learned the importance of training through ski team, and I have committed at least 30 minutes daily last winter to go to different mountains on a bus with my teammates and practice. From the my coach in the team, I know that constant exercise promotes health by reducing chances of contracting diseases such as heart attack, pressure and other diseases, also the exercise keeps the mind in a healthier state. Therefore, to maintain and have good health, I always exercise and this practice will remain part of me throughout my life. Before joining this school, I had no understanding of myself. I thought my peers were over criticizing me every time I failed to achieve some goals; especially as an international student, I felt like a laughing stock all the time. The experience I have gained in Prep has enabled me to recognize that my peers were only giving their opinions on my performance. I have now learned to assume the critics and concentrate on what I can do best, and also, I have recognized my weaknesses, and I am working on them for my growth. Humility which I have developed in Prep has enabled me to acknowledge that criticism is essential for growth and I appreciate my friends for it today.   One of the primary social problems in schools, especially these day is running away from the problem. Avoiding problem is intensifying on a daily basis in the school and is a threat to economic and social growth in our country. Most students tend to control or suppress their emotions, but they forget the consequences. At Prep, I have learned that avoiding problem are irresponsible. Therefore, instead of running away to solve my problems, I will be consulting counselors in case I get involved in some family, academic or other problems. Fairfield indeed is a wonderful place. I have learned and is continuing to learn a lot; the learning is impacting personal growth on me, and I know this growth is vital to my future endeavor. Intellectually Competent My four years’ experience in Fairfield Prep has been with challenges but am glad that despite the challenges I have grown intellectually as compared to how I was when I joined the institution four years ago. Joining a Jesuit school was the best decision that I made in my academic life. Firstly, the institution has helped me develop my critical and analytical skills necessary in the modern life that we are living in. These skills are important in helping me to analyze situations, evaluate and think critically in coming up with solutions aimed at solving problems thus enhancing my problem solving abilities at the same time. Classwork activities, in particular those relating to case studies and analysis have been key elements in helping me develop these skills. More importantly, when I look at the grades I have obtained in a number of courses that are used to impart these skills I am happy because of my performance in these courses. When I evaluate my level of thinking I feel that my thinking level and problem solving abilities have greatly improved unlike when I first joined the institution. Secondly, team work and leadership skills have been enhanced greatly through group discussions and other forms of group work. These discussions and group wok activities have been effective in helping develop communication skills as well as critical thinking skills in coming up with convincing arguments that are well reasoned out. We have engaged in group activities where in some cases I have been made the group leader which I have to acknowledge is challenging but with experience in group coordination it becomes very easy. Engaging group members in key decision making helps avoid a lot of opposition from the members. Most importantly, working in a collaborative manner helps not only improve one’s academic abilities but also enhances ones both written and communication skills. Criticism is an important aspect when it comes to group works. Through criticism, one is able to understand and absorb the thinking of the other group members and come up with better and well-reasoned out points that are more convincing, well thought out and believable. Groups helped us prepare thoroughly well in coming up with convincing arguments especially when presenting before class. Research has been an integral part of our daily classroom activities and also in undertaking research projects. The ability to use the new technologies such as the internet has helped in perform my academic research especially in retrieving information from a variety of research databases that are available online and also provided platforms to share information with other students and tutors. Also, these technologies and the ability to use them effectively have helped to be updated on the current events and exploring the other parts of the world hence having a global view of the current news and economic issues. However, as a critical and analytical thinker, my research skills have helped me to evaluate content not only for authenticity but also challenge those views that I do not agree with. I have had an interesting experience particularly in engaging in academic debates through carrying out a thorough research and coming up with a view that either supports the existing research or refutes research claims. This in particular has motivated me to advance my academics beyond my college school. The institution has also been key in helping me understand our cultural heritage through exploration of various historical aspects. Especially as I am a international student. These aspects have been explored as a cultural and historical element that form and shape the modern world we are in. It has helped me to relate to various aspects in the society, to understand their meaning and also acknowledge our origin as a people. In conclusion, given another chance to choose a school, most definitely I will choose Fairfield Prep as the best option for learners to enhance their intellectualism through a diversified view of academics as indicated in my intellectual growth above. Religion Due to my religious background, I have no idea what religion is when I first got here. However, from my experiences in our school, I had the opportunity of learning about religious practices thr...
