In the short story "The Biggest City in The World" Daniel Chacon delivers an identity crisis revolving around Harvey Gomez a graduate studying in Mexico who makes his first ever visit to Mexico City. Gomez struggles to acclimatize with the Mexican way of life and due to his long separation with his people at Mexico; he has to and learn the language at a University. That way he would have been at ease to communicate in "smooth and easy Spanish" rather than the slow deliberate words which feels like chunks that he could harness. I believe that identity crisis invokes and element of fear and this is why Gomez found himself more and more terrified of Mexico City the more he stayed there. Gomez runs into a professor who he comes to admire and who happens to know the ways of the city more than him, Gomes tags along. Chicanery was to strike in the end and Gomez finds himself in the hands of pickpockets who leave him without a penny.
It was then that he decides to hail and a cab and his only hope of reaching his destination is through swindling the driver. The story takes a twist at that point when Gomez looked into the eyes of the driver and sees his father and the extent of Mexican heritage.
