Defense forces have standards and discipline that must be adhered to to build a cohesive team. Soldiers are normal humans who deal with challenges in their homes, families, and environment; hence, it is a hard duty to always act by the standards and disciplines. However, knowing what is suitable per the army's expectations is essential for maintaining readiness, effectiveness, and morale. In contemporary army groups, diversity in race, sexual preferences, and cultural beliefs necessitates that the leadership develop innovative ways of creating and maintaining cohesion. This paper will discuss how discipline and standards are enforced in the army while also keeping teams cohesive.
Training and educating service members constantly and consistently on standards, discipline, and cohesion enables goals to be achieved easily. The topics to be focused on during training sessions are army regulations, work policies, and standard procedures during service. Refresher training sessions should also be scheduled regularly to reinforce everyone's rules and responsibilities. When all service members understand the required standards and expectations from the leadership and the state and the consequences of indiscipline or failure to adhere to them, the army will succeed in its missions. The Blue Book can be used as one of the reference sources during training sessions (Association of the United States Army). Informing service members of the required standards and discipline will minimize misunderstandings and allow smooth team coordination (Caforio 273).
