Act one of the play has two scenes. In the first scene two characters Levine and Williamson are introduced in a restaurant discussing their salesman job in a real estate firm. Levine tries to convince his boss, Williamson to give him the leads of Glengarry developments (Mamet, 15). These are the best and the newest leads in their office. In further efforts to convince his boss that he is still a master sales man despite his bad luck lately, Levine introduces another development, the Glen Ross farms. Levine knows that if he does not make it to the board he will be among the two worst performing sales men who will be fired.
However, Williamson tells him that he cannot give him the leads of Glengarry development before he makes a sale before end month. This makes Levine desperate that he turns into corruption. Williamson does not agree to take Levine’s deal demanding twenty percent cash upfront of which Levine does not have. He gives up and asks for leads from the worst performing development.
