Is the United States experiencing an economic recession?
Economic recession of a country can only be confirmed if the gross Domestic Product of a country is negative for a certain period of time. In the United States of America, NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) is charged with the responsibility of declaring recession. Usually we can realize that we are in recession just after staying for several months in recession since the NBER takes time calculating the multitude of the available variables before making a final decision on whether the country is going through recession or not. Recession is as a result of the economic cycle which will lead to adjustments in changes in consumer spending and consumption.
