Asimov's Nightfall vs Bacigalupi’s The People of Sand and Slag
Must write an an essay based on the assignments uploaded. Only needs an introduction and a conclusion with just a basic middle paragraph that is not in too much detail but has a thesis linked to the epigraph and the idea of the essay.
This draft of your comparative essay must consciously use Text B to help us understand some aspect of Text A—either what is present, or what is missing. What does B help us to understand that A did not cover (extend), or that it got wrong (complicate)?
all your themes should have had some discussion, and the reader should be able to comment on how 2 (or more) themes inter-relating = Idea/Argument.
Research and include a second scholarly source that helps to develop your Idea/themes. Use this scholarly source to extend or complicate your text in at least one evidence-based paragraph. You may either integrate quotes or use a block quotation, but substantially explain the point, rather than quoting one half-sentence etc.
The above-noted evidence/source based paragraph may not be your last paragraph. Continue to develop your Idea with at least one more extension or complication. You do not need to finish the Middle. Leave some space for revision, additional material, and a third credible source that you can use to extend or complicate further.

Compare and Contrast
Science fiction, also known as sci-fi, consists of theoretical, futuristic, and imaginative concepts such as advanced science technology, time travel, extraterrestrial lives, and space exploration. Science fiction bases ideas from ancient times relating and exploring the effects of technological, social, and scientific innovations. The paper highlights and focuses its attention by comparing and contrasting the science fiction ideas and themes depicted in Isaac Asimov's Nightfall with Paulo Bacigalupi’s The People of Sand and Slag basing arguments with approaches described in other stories.
Similarities
In both stories, authors depict the theme of power, quite different from the current world with the existence of extraterrestrial creatures. In his book, Nightfall, Asimov introduces to his readers the presence of aliens in the future universe. Aliens have pictured to possess more abilities than rational human beings. Paulo, on the other hand, talks about the existence of guards who are technologically mutated being the security providers in future Montana. These guards are stronger than the typical human security, making them suitable for protecting the mines. Other authors like Heffernan Teresa also depicts humans in the future world to be dominant in terms of command through the creation of a robotic boy who comes to life and searches for love in her story, A.I. Artificial Intelligence: Science, Fiction, and Fairy Tales (Heffernan, 14).
The scientific concept is depicted by the presence of highly advanced technology in the future compared to the current world. In Asimov’s Nightfall, the discovery of the existence of the sophisticated six stars which change the alternation of night and day in his universe confirms the presence of highly advanced technology equipment. On the other hand, Paulo's The people of Sand and Slag depicts advanced technology by the existence of an employer whose mine is guarded by three guards who are mutated technologically. The successful modification of creatures requires high-tech equipment. Sci-fi stories like The Post- Apocalyptic Imaginary: Science and the Death Drive by Heffernan Teresa also illustrate advanced technology by the creation of killer robots engaging in world war (Heffernan 72).
The majority of science fiction stories also depict hostile and adverse environments in which creatures exist, portraying themes of conflict and survival. This kind of setting is clearly shown in the unproductive and barren land in Paolo's story, where the guards feed on worms but find challenges in feeding the dog, leading to its death. In Asimov's story, various scientists and researchers gather in an observatory to avoid destruction by fire. Teresa's story, The Post-Apocalyptic Imaginary: Science, and Death Drive, a similar situation is portrayed by the hostile war conditions in the universe that make scientists introduce robot killers to stand in wars to enhance their survival (Heffernan 67).
In most science and fiction stories, the themes of insecurity and mistrust are painted. Paulo, in The People of Sand and Slag, characterizes these themes using the appearance of an alien dog, which confused the three genetically modified guards with being a threat to their land. The guards initially thought the dog as a result of an advanced hostile bio...
