The article provides an analysis of Wilde’s background information that made a significant contribution to the content of the book. As well, it gives an introduction to how the novel was received by society. According to the author, the revised version did not attract much negativity as compared to the first version. In response to people’s criticism, Wilde points out that he does not understand the notion of immorality that people claimed about the novel. The article also provides a list of the various characters and various essays analyzing the novel. Different themes evident in the novel have also been pointed out.
