Probation Verses Parole
Probation identifies with the trial period in which the abilities and the character of an offender are tested; the period is associated with allowing time for the offender to redeem herself or himself (DeMichele 12). This a system applied in dealing with offenders without offering any imprisonment. Persons not found guilty are released indefinitely. Parole identifies with the conditional release entitled to offenders from imprisonment. The rest of the sentence is served outside the galleries with prescribed terms and conditions (DeMichele 14).
Similarities between Parole and probation resonates with the fact that probation and parole are corrections subsections, both models developed as corrections rehabilitation systems, both models emphasize on reforms and treatments, both models deal with persons under the criminal justice system and that probation and Parole assist in reducing overcrowding in prisons (DeMichele 24).
