Public Opinion and Civil Right Movement

Task - Describe two methods employed by the Truman administration to halt or contain the spread of communism throughout Europe and the rest of the world. For each method:

1. Explain the program
2. Illustrate the program as it applied to a specific area or nation
3. Describe the ultimate impact of the program upon limiting the spread of communism

Theme - Public Opinion and the Civil Rights Movement

The I960's were a time when public opinion influenced the Federal Government to begin ensuring greater equality for African Americans.

Task 
1. Describe two specific examples of how leaders of the civil rights movement were able to use public opinion in their fight to promote greater equality for black Americans
2. Describe how the media helped to promote or influence public opinion about civil rights or the anti-war movement
3. Evaluate the degree of success of either of the two examples that you described

The Vietnam War had an impact of the US in ways that were not foreseen when it entered the conflict. As a result of extended US participation in Vietnam, there were significant changes at home.
