The period between 1816 and 1840
The period between 1816 and 1840, was a very tough and chaotic time for the America that we know today. However this is not to be taken at face value considering that, it is within the same period that led to very radical changes in the nation, as it changed from an under-developed country and onto the path of industrialization (Veronikis). There was quite the separation that is seen today in terms of economic strength, as the north and the south parted ways. In the north much of the development was industrialization oriented while the south was more into agriculture. This division was not just in terms of the economic aspects but also in areas such as, religion, race and political standing. The north opted out of the agricultural based economy and instead went for the exchange in goods and the services as well as wages. The north concentrated much on the refinement of the machinery, and as a result this period saw quite a number of inventions. These inventions included the cotton gin by Eli Whitney, the mechanical mower by Cyrus McCormick, which revolutionized the harvesting of cotton and wheat in the north respectiv...
