The manifest destiny was the believe by most of the Americans during the 19th century, where the Americans believed that, America would expand all the way to the pacific ocean in the west. To occupy all the land that was at the time occupied by the Native Americans. It is this attitude that assisted the Americans to settle as well as fuel the warfare with Mexicans. For the Americans they felt that this was a natural process for them if they would have to succeed in building their own heaven (Madsen). Not all the Americans were in support of the attitude, although the democrats’ majorities were in support; however the Whigs at the time felt that this imperialism was out of place. This manifest was the sole reason that America gained the lands that it has today, however that was not with great ease as there was resistance all the way.
