History Paper: National Security Memo For The President

Essay Instructions:

NSC Memo for President Trump
I know that it is long but please read it carefully. You may write as much as you want but keep in mind that the longer you go, the more likely that the president's patience will wear thin. You do not have to talk about everything. Prioritize what you think is important and either brush aside or ignore those things that you think do not require attending to.You do not have to cite references but, please, do not let us catch you citing "alternative facts" - stick to easily verified information. You may of course decide to cite references, either in notes or in a bibliography. Finally, I have outlined what are usually seen as the nation's top security priorities. I would start by thinking about how you would prioritize those, think about the implications for force structure and geographic allocation (whether soldiers, aircraft, or ships) of resources, and possibly what those priorities might mean for the allocation of budgetary resources. We will be grading your memos on the basis of the quality of analysis: both of specific security threats and - just as important - the connections you make between those priorities and force structure, on the one hand, and "grand" strategy, on the other. You may advocate a course of action that the president is not likely to agree with. Grades will be implemented independent of the president's positions. However, you should not expect appointment to the NSC should you deviate too far from the president's strategic vision.

FROM: THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL
SUBJECT: THE MAIN SECURITY THREATS AND ALLOCATION OF RESOURCES
DATE: 2ND MARCH 2018
The National Security Council is one of the most useful departments in the United States of America government structure CITATION She17 \l 1033 (Elgebeily). This branch is supposed to maintain both law and order at national and international levels and to do so the National Security Council has to efficiently tackle some issues such as,the chief security threats facing the U.S. today and where the council thinks are that the president should be heading with respect to U.S. force structures and defense budget allocations. Another issue that will be addressed in the course of this memo is the procedure of allocation of resources as the national security council has been operating under a very tight resource program where you find that the financial resources available at the premises of the NSC cannot efficiently buy all the desired weapons and pay the required amount of human resource. The issue of inadequate finances is addressed in an attempt to appeal to the president, Donald Trump to increase funds allocated to the NSC during the budget formulation process.
1 The main security threats facing the country
* International terrorism and the danger presented by criminal organizations
The USA as a super nation has always been facing threats from terrorists all over the world who aim at weakening our security structure. These terrorists are either suicide boomers or just a gang of rebels who want to prove themselves as strong to the world. The militia gangs are a threat to our security, but over the years they have been curbed by the use of military force. The military force being referred to this case involves a combination of the army, air force, and navy seals. These three organs have been very effective in handling terror threats and attacks. The main reason as to why terrorism is number one on the security threat risk is that we have recorded a total of seven attack and two threats over this month CITATION joh17 \l 1033 (Fishel). This is a significant threat as it is against the role of NSC which protects USA citizens both in the country and those in other parts of the world. The issue of terrorism as one of the countries threat can be effectively tackled by increasing the number of personnel in the anti-terrorism council and also soldiers in the field. This recommendation is likely to consume an estimated budget of about five point five billion. This is a considerable amount of money but is firmly believe that an increase in the number of personnel in the anti-terrorism unit will efficiently handle this problem.
2. Threats from so-called "rogue" states. These might be better thought of as states that refuse to conform to the norms of the international order: primarily North Korea but in the eyes of the current administration Iran as well.
The rogue states have always been a security threat to the USA. These countries are still on their toe to chal...
