Virtues are the strengths of character, which emphasize good character. The actions and decisions made in the engineering practice are based on deliberation and rational choice. Organizations emphasize this through ethics training and commitment to professional ethics. When making decisions, the virtue ethics are crucial as there is a moral framework how people should act and represents the permissible standards of conduct (Lawler, Michael and Salzman 450). As such, reasons, thoughts and judgment are involved when making decisions. Ethical theories and the ethical codes of various engineering professional societies are the decision making frameworks. Virtue ethics focuses more on character rather than rights and rules where there are desirable traits.
