Project Writeup
The current technological advancements have seen lots of business organizations embracing technology in their different operational procedures. A bigger percentage of the world's population have mobile phones and computers at their disposal. Business organizations have to be in touch with their clients and potential clients through various means such as social media, social media, and advertisements. Within the given business internal environment, social media also impacts businesses in both positive and negative ways. The impacts that are realized as a result of social media application stems from business innovations, e-commerce, and subsequence business performance. Since many businesses view the internet as a frontier globally, its application in business organizations has both positive and negative consequences (Dahnil et al. 199). Therefore, this paper will analyze the different implications of a social media application in business organizations. Consequently, the paper will highlight the competitive advantage that the new business organizations that have embraced social media users have over the organizations that are still reluctant to integrate social media. Additionally, the paper will also highlight the drawbacks that organizations that have applied the use of social media have over had to face.
The scope of the organization from which social media is applied and its subsequent implication is broad. For this reason, organizations have employed social media in different departments, for example, in the marketing sector and human resource management. The factors on which social media form to use in any given department depend solely on the organizations' policies and initiatives. For example, for a long time, most organizations have embraced email as their official communication method over the years. Still, very few organizations have embraced other forms of technologies, such as social enterprise networks and social media (Venkateswaran et al.). Some organizations are still reluctant to embrace these new forms of technologies citing corporate inertia fully; for example, insurance companies have diverse ways to see that there is a long-term implication. It is a common phenomenon as corporate lawyers, labor experts, and corporate managers are reluctant to discuss and offer their views from a contemporary perspective. What is the implication of social media in organizations that have already embraced the use of social media in their different departments?
Social media use in businesses has seen business organization increasing their competitive advantage. There are many social media platforms that the current internet users consistently visit. For example, there is a higher probability of internet users visits and explore social media sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn. While customers and potential customers use these social media platforms, they explore, share information, and discover new brands. In this sense, brands that have integrated the use of social media will easily get an audience with the internet users who use social media.
Additionally, brands that use social media have a higher probability of getting discovered by their potential clients. Therefore, consistent social media integration in the organizational structure increases the probability of a business organization's exposure to the markets. As businesses get exposed and new customers discover these new businesses, these businesses gain a competitive advantage over their competitors who have not integrated technology into their organization.
Venkateswaran et al. argue that the impacts of social media use in business organizations are so broad that anytime a consumer searches for a specific product online or on the business's social media handles, the consumers end up learning of the alternative product that the business organization is selling. For example, businesses that are not dealing in a specific product line are in a better position to cling to new customers as social media integration in businesses. Additionally, whenever consumers research a product online and on social media handles, the consumer learns about a new business brand. The scenario means that for a business to increase its chances of getting exposed to new and potential markets in the contemporary world, the business can embrace social media to boost this probability. Besides, social media users are more likely to share reviews on social media and even the existing first-hand reviews. This factor can influence and sway the implications either on a positive and negative.
The implication of social media presents some salient positive implications to the business organizations that employ social media. For example, business organizations can use learn about their audience, potential clients, and existing customers. There are advantages that businesses realize as a result of learning their audience. for instance, businesses can be up-to-date with their customers and what is happening in their daily lives. Additionally, some salient advantages of social media stem from receiving instant feedback from the consumer's perspective (Betancourt et al. 10). When business organizations receive instant feedback from their consumers, they can make fast, honest, and detailed feedback. The constant and reliable communication between the client and the business helps build a good relationship of good faith, thereby enabling the businesses to retain and subsequently get new customers. Just as Tim Berner-lee defines social media as more than a browsing medium, but it collaborates with people who share ideas and other sophisticated items, social media creates the biggest market potential for business organizations.
Social media implications in business organizations speed up innovation and subsequent development of new products. Whe...
