Concept:
* Comparison and contrast is something that we do every day. In order to understand something unfamiliar, we may look to compare the unfamiliar subject to something more familiar to us. We also use comparison and contrast to show how one thing may be more beneficial than another. Lastly, we could use contrast to show how two similar things are surprisingly different, OR we could use comparison to show how two different things are surprisingly similar.
Assignment:
*Write a compare and/or contrast essay on one of the topics below. Use the comparison and contrast techniques learned in class and from your textbook to organize and to develop your points and support your thesis. Remember, to organize your essay, you can use either a point-by-point (alternating), or subject- by-subject (block) organization pattern (outlines provided in Bb). Be sure that the organization pattern stays consistent throughout your paper. If you are using block pattern, the essay still must be a five paragraph essay.
Requirements:
• Length: Introduction/Thesis (6-8 sentences), Body paragraphs (8-12 sentences each excluding source material), Conclusion (6-8 sentences)
• Sources: Students are required to use 1-2 reliable sources to support their points.

Social media is a crucial tool for business as it enhances its marketing practices. Social media platforms also help people in the business world to connect with their customers. Hence, this creates awareness leading to high sales (Katya,3). Globally, more than three billion people use social media monthly. There are several social media platforms, which include Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter. This paper will focus on comparing and contrasting Instagram and Tumblr's social media platforms.
The two social media platforms share some characteristics. First, people use the two platforms as cultural intermediaries (Kiki,3). They help various groups as leaders, designers, and sellers to influence people on their products. For instance, a fashion blogger can post a beautiful dress on his wall and attract a considerable number of people to purchase it. Additionally, people share their knowledge on the platforms, shaping people's tastes, shapes, and cultural values (Kellogg, 5). Secondly, the two platforms are used to create awareness of certain products in the market, promoting selling.
Business people use the platforms for advertising their products and services, reaching a wide range of populations.
