Communications – Political Economy of Media Paradigm
Understanding the external factors that affect media is essential for anyone. It allows him to better appreciate the circumstances that affect reporting processes and exude a more critical approach towards consuming any media communications. Accordingly, this article would focus on some of the most interesting aspects that I have learned from the Political Economy of Media paradigm that heavily reflects media from its very inception. All in all, I believe that media and external factors cannot be removed from one another, and thus understanding how to respond to these forms also meant understanding the context that underlies it.
Reflections on the Political Economy of Media
One of the most interesting aspects of the Political Economy of Media Paradigm that I have learned is that media production, dissemination, and consumption are heavily influenced by external factors like economy, politics, and even personal preferences of reporters, among others. This aspect of this paradigm was interesting for me because of the “ideal” belief of others that media should be objective and neutral by simply reporting the basic facts of the case. However, as discussed in this paradigm, media production, dissemination, and consumption are heavily influenced by many factors, whether personal, domestic, or international, to name a few.
