In particular, Microsoft Corporation is a multinational technology company with headquarters in Redmond, Washington, the United States of America (USA). Paul Allen and Bill Gates began this firm in 4th April 1975. Microsoft Corporation deals with software and hardware products. Indeed, its renowned software are Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Edge web browser, and Microsoft 365. The hardware products include personal computers and Xbox video game consoles. Currently, Microsoft Company has over 221,000 employees (Peachman 2023). Over the years, Microsoft Corporation has been profitable and has generated more revenues. Specifically, in 2022, the firm had annual revenues of $204.09 billion. Since Microsoft Company is among the largest technology firms in the world, it has acquired various small and medium-sized enterprises to gain a competitive advantage. For example, it acquired LinkedIn in 2016, Skype Technologies in 2011, and Activision Blizzard in 2023. The mission statement of Microsoft Corporation is empowering every organization and individual on earth to have more achievements. In addition, its vision statement is helping businesses and people throughout the globe to maximize their potential. The company’s core values are integrity, respect, accountability, trustworthiness, and diversity and inclusion (Microsoft.com 2023). In the past, Microsoft Company has encountered several challenges in trying to create a positive and conducive working environment by implementing effective policies. However, the firm has conquered these problems, and it has become one of the best employers in the technology sector. Microsoft Corporation values its employees and prioritizes their well-being and work-life balance. The methodology and findings sections of this paper will critically evaluate and analyze the firm’s International Human Resource Management (IHRM) practices, including employees’ well-being and work-life balance at Microsoft Company.
2.0 Methodology
2.1 Research Methodology and Microsoft Worker Alignment
The research methodology used in this study is qualitative. The researcher gathered relevant data by using credible scholarly sources from various academic databases, including Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, and EBSCOhost. The primary keywords used in this research include employees' well-being and work-life balance at Microsoft Corporation. In particular, studies reveal that many workers in this company believe that they are treated well and are willing to extend their stay in the firm. Based on an internal interview conducted by Microsoft Company, researchers found that 66% of Microsoft workers are motivated to work for the corporation due to its well-established values, mission, and vision statements. In particular, one of the primary questions that researchers asked employees at Microsoft was whether they were proud to be working at Microsoft. The outcomes showed that about 84% of employees are happy to work and to be associated with the firm. Additionally, approximately 70% of workers at Microsoft said that the corporation has clear goals, which is why they enjoy working there (Comparably 2023). The primary reason that contributes to numerous employees at Microsoft Company being happy working for this employer is due to work-life balance. As such, these individuals have enough time to rest, which is why they are willing to provide more services to the company regardless of the salary they are receiving. They believe
