Muscles have higher oxygen and nutrient consumption rates, waste products are always faster accumulating, and the body will have higher temperatures. In the bid to meet the increased oxygen and nutrient requirements and maintain internal balance (homeostasis), our cardiovascular and respiratory systems go beyond what they normally do, working together as a team in performing a physiological display of teamwork (Turner, 1991). The Heart Pumps Up the Volume: The cardiovascular or cardiovascular system consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood, and it is the response that comes first during exercise. With the rise in physical activity, the corresponding demand for oxygenated blood goes up in the working muscles. This, in turn, leads to a significant increase in heart rate, the number of times the heart beats per minute. Let it sink into your mind – that's exactly what the process is all about. However, the faster heart rate won't result in running faster on its own. The heart, along with that, will increase the stroke volume, which means that more blood is pushed out with each heartbeat. This is just like the pump pushing a larger quantity at each work stroke.
