LITERATURE REVIEW ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEADERSHIP AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE Abstract This paper synthesizes literature concerning leadership approaches and organizational financial outcomes concerning SMEs, specifically the manufacturing industry. Initially, the focal theories included transformational, transactional, and sustainable leadership, with the importance of profits, revenues, and sustainability outlined as the key significance—the difference between the two types of leadership. Firstly, transformational leadership is focused on vision and innovation, proving the positive impact of transformational leadership on financial performance by increasing employee perceptions and corporate image. Conversely, the transactional leadership style is most desirable for the short term because it cannot be employed in organizations that experience frequent changes. Ethical corporate social responsibility (CSR) and relationship frameworks pursuing long-term stakeholder relationships help ensure stability. This paper also specifies other variables that moderate roles, including corporate reputation and employee engagement, in determining leadership style productivity. Finally, this paper offers valuable recommendations for organizations striving to achieve superior financial performance through transformational leadership aligned with the organization's industry and organizational environment. However, this research raises several suggestions for future research focusing on lesser-investigated fields and leadership dynamics in the modern digital environment. Many types of leadership include transformation, transaction, and sustainable leadership, which open avenues for financial success. Firstly, transformational leadership involves utilizing vision and ideas to entice subordinates to perform a certain way, while transactional leadership involves setting goals and ensuring that they are accomplished by the workforce (Obradovich, 2009; Mwakajila and Nyello, 2021; Uddin, Luva, and Hossian, 2014). On the other hand, sustainable leadership incorporates long-term ethical actions and the management of stake (Caldwell et al., 2022; Rajan, Zingales, and Kumar, 2005). These leadership styles directly affect organizational financial performance, employee productivity, and corporate image. Appreciating such dynamics is especially relevant in sectors characterized by relatively high technological and economic transformation rates, including the SMEs and the manufacturing domain (Cocola-Devie et al., 2023; Mwakajila & Nyello, 2021). 2 Purpose and Scope This literature review examines the literature on leadership characteristics and financial performance, emphasizing transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and sustainable leadership. The scope encompasses analysis of empirical data and research on SME manufacturing firms and distressed industries to determine the role of leadership practices on financial performance, including profitability, revenues, and sustainability. Moderating variables, including organizational image and staff commitment, are also expected and thought to give a different perspective regarding the relationship (Obradovich, 2009; Devie et al., 2023). 3 Research Objectives The key objectives are to analyze: 1 To indicate the relationship between different leadership behaviors and organizational financial performance; 2 To analyze intermediaries, including corporate reputation and employees’ engagement in the financial performance of organizations and 3 To identify and explore specific leadership examples associated with a particular context and to look closer at small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and the manufacturing industry. This research study will thus endeavor to offer practical solutions to leadership practice and organizational policy to optimize the financial attitude. 2 Literature Review 4 89651738671500Theoretical Foundations Figure 1. Impact of Various Leadership Styles on Financial Performance Figure 1 is based on the data provided by Mwakajila and Nyello (2021), where the authors found that the leadership style that has the most significant positive impact on financial performance is the combined leadership style. 1 Transformational Leadership Theory The key aspects of transformational leadership focus on ensuring leaders can encourage the employees to strive harder and achieve more through shared vision and challenges (Zuraik and Kelly, 2019). This theory is grounded in the work of Burns (1978) and later expanded by Bass (1985), who identified four key components: There are four categories of leadership such as idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration (Bass and Avolio, 1...
