Issues & Steps involved in Product Life Cycle
According to Wang & Li (1991, p. 39) product development cycle is a model that is explicit in nature describing the various stages under which a product goes through. According to Dowling (1993, p. 41) the development stages in the life cycle of a product include stages such as design, test, manufacture, maintenance, operation and disposal. In every stage of development, there are particular development processes involved that cannot be ignored. Additionally Dowling (1993, p. 43) adds that at every stage there is application of analysis and model methods to ensure that the products can effectively work at every stage it goes through. For instance in certain cases models for processes such as machining in addition to fixtures and planning algorithms can be employed in developing machined parts during the manufacturing processes of a product.
