Bryant Park in Manhattan
Introduction
Bryant Park is an eight-acre large and green oasis found at the 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue intersection in New York. The park is considered one of the most adorable and pleasant parks found within and around Manhattan. The park has heavily trafficked streets around it that sometimes pose challenges when accessing it. However, it is argued that the park remains one of the most relaxing parks within the region.
Bryant Park was once the hub of drug trafficking, and it was always in the headlines of dailies for wrong reasons. Many people referred to the park as Needle Park because, besides drug trafficking, it was also known for prostitution and violence back in the 1970s. However, the park has in the recent past transformed to what its clients refer to as a beloved summer hangout spot that hosts thousands of families in a friendly serene during winter.
Moreover, the park served as a revolutionary war battleground before overrunning of Washington square by yellow fever victims took place. After the yellow fever incident, the park began to reconstruct itself and became the Croton Distribution Reservoir and the only primary source of New York fresh water. Besides, the Bryant Park acquired another status of hosting New York City’s tallest building, Latting Observatory that went 315-feet high. A few years before such significant developments, Bryant park glory was lost as it became the burial site for revolutionary war victims in the 1970s. Bryant Park is famous because it has lush seasonal gardens, fresco dining and world-class restrooms. Its location also gives it a cutting edge. The park enjoys great neighbourhoods such as New York Public |Library as well as the iconic skyscrapers. Moreover, it has been rated as one of the busiest public space within the spheres of the world. However, the original design and proposal of Bryant Park should be re-designed with non-figural and changing form installations that can respond to the flexible world today.
Literature Review
According to Marcus Foth 2009, from the year 2001, Bryant Park has seen tremendous growth and development towards acquiring the status of a world-class status. He argues that New York City wireless has come up with more than eight location hotspots within the park. Foth adds that the establishment of the hotspots has become one of the reasons why the park is gradually and rapidly becoming the favourite winter destination for many families across the world. Moreover, the author also emphasizes the benefits that Bryant Park partnership with Bryant Park Cooperation has yielded for the facility. The cooperation was a non-profit private management body whose formation was to see to it that the park is revitalized and gains its glory. The cooperation, according to Forth 2009 has not failed in its mandate because the transformations in the facility are conspicuous.
Niles, and Horenstein. 2014 gives an account of a devastated and filthy space that is now referred to as Bryant Park back in the 1860s. The two authors argue that Bryant Park was once known as Reservoir Square and a field of Colored Orphan Asylum horrific burnings in 1963. The by then reservoir was a destructive site of civil war as well as draft riots. Besides, Niles, and Horenstein label the park as a space that became a burial site for Washington yellow fever victims in the 1880's. However, the authors recount how the park started regaining its boasted hilarious status today when it became the first and the only primary source of fresh water in the entire New York City. Besides, their book highlights that it is the Bryant Park that had the highest skyscraper in the region known as Latting observatory. As a result, the park became a tourist attraction centre that today hosts millions of tourists, both local foreign throughout the year.

Ruggiero 2015 also uses his article to outline how the park operates in its current status. He describes some of the best facilities that the park has acquired today that include classical style carousel, the memorial fountain where people try fortunes by making wishes ice skating sites among other attractive sceneries.
Moreover, Ruggiero 2015 recaps how the environments within the park ensure the safety of all clients by taking statistics twice a day. The statistics are taken through physical counts of the people within the park by the staff. Besides, the park also use the data obtained for arriving at vital decisions that ensure the success of the park.
The park has seen huge numbers of people within its premises that average at one thousand people per acre on a daily basis. This number has been almost constant and can only increase even on days without any special event. This makes the Bryant park one of the world’s busiest private facility.
