Culture is regarded as an act of reference, and cultural appropriation occurs when some individuals with a distinct culture adopt cultural practices of people from another culture. It is crucial to note that cultural appropriation may happen under different situations, for instance, when people drop their cultural traditions and embrace others that they see from sources such as media (Artforum International, 2017). For example, people are likely to renounce their ethnic dance moves that distinguish them from people from other regions and start recognizing what they see in videos and podcasts from any part of the world.
