The Role of Architecture in Designing Residential in High-density Country
Introduction
Architecture is one of the most important considerations when building infrastructures in a certain community. In order to build a facility or a structure, owners or businessmen needs to create a design to improve the space, facility, and the appearance. Every house has a unique design depending on the desire of the owner on how their structure will be built. Architectural design should also comply with environmental standards or at least will benefit the environment to prevent ecological misfortunes. This paper aims to discuss the role of architects in designing residential in high-density country.
Architect can be defined as someone who plans and designs buildings or structures. As an architect, understanding the needs of residents by having a suitable residential dwelling place is essential to secure their shelters. Nowadays, the total population of the planet is roughly estimated at 7.5 billion and it continues to rise. High population density can lead to many problems such as housing problems in a country with a high-density population. Architects must have to create suitable residential complexes to solve housing problems. Since China is the main area of concern due to its population density, architects will find a way how to construct and design residential units.
Body
China is the most populous country in the world with over 1.3 billion estimated registered residents. The population density per square kilometer in China is 142 and it is projected to grow further for the next coming years. This is the main reason why China is facing a housing problem (Mimi, 2011). This means that there is a demand for architects to build more residential units to address housing problems for the country’s population.
Architects should always know the significance of indoor space designing process towards a smaller housing unit. This is all about the designs for the indoor space that highlights the interior design and functional composite of each unit. It seeks to find out about the essentials of designing a specific area of interior space inside small units, in which it provides a special design to maximize the space of the targeted unit. This is to determine the differences applied on different household requirements that influence the design problems in small apartments. This is to create a measurable design that will be used for future indoor spaces for occupants to have a more convenient way of dwelling in smaller places while they are free to accomplish their activities of daily living on a regular basis inside the unit.
There are several solutions to reduce the cost of building housing units that architects can apply. This includes purchasing smaller area homes. This is to allow architects to improve the comfort of small areas by changing the design to create a smaller area for every residential units that cater their needs. Dynamic functional recombination of several rooms aims to use a variety of furniture to have a multifunctional efficiency to every house design being used by the dwellers inside a small apartment unit. Designs of the flooring landscape that are applicable to small units have a 3-D feature such as raising the ground to form a versatile underground space. Having a unique ceiling suspended in smaller units enables a distinct feature for various changes with the space to become optimized with regards to the space of the unit. Wall designs are also being featured as a way to provide a credit for all margins of the space being maximized by the structure in a small apartment unit (Du & Li, 2014).
There is a satisfactory residential area that seeks to reduce housing cost that is concentrated on the design prospect as well as the concept of China’s green architecture. It seeks to highlight the alternative design for greener environment by architects in order to save energy and produce fewer emissions to each structure (Wang, 2012). The author highlighted environmental concerns especially with the deterioration of the environment in the present era. This means that the idea that utilizes a sustainable structure is important consideration in People’s Republic of China. Only difference is that it promotes oxygen production by means of using greener architecture formula so that it helps the environmental campaign around the world to preserve the environment and prevent the hazards of pollution. This is managed through the guidance of green architectural design that becomes a necessity for infrastructure and construction agencies across China to be applied in the future.
Building a cheaper unit is very essential especially for the advocates of the environment because it seeks to concentrate on environmental preservation and protection of natural resources. Creating a greener architecture design allow every construction firm to reconsider a design that is compatible with the vision and mission of architecture that seeks to protect our environment. This is to coincide with the greener architecture’s collapsing environmental friendly buildings and structures that should prevent any potential hazards of pollution. The author highlighted green architecture as the alternative way of supporting our environment’s protection against the impending consequences of pollution. In this concept, the outlook for engineering and architecture helps to support Mother Nature by means of creating structures that are self-sufficient by generating th...
